Hi, I'm Jason.

Filmmaker by training. Wedding storyteller by popular demand.

For more than 15 years, I've had a front-row seat to some of the most beautiful, chaotic, joy-soaked days of people's lives. If you'd told college me I'd end up here, I would have laughed. Politely. Then gone back to editing my student film.

My Story

From the press line to the dance floor

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Radio/TV/Film and started my career in news, covering dignitaries, politicians and ambassadors from around the world. In that world there are no do-overs. The handshake happens once. The speech happens once. You learn to read a room, anticipate a moment before it happens and stay calm when everything moves fast. Diplomatic protocol, it turns out, is excellent preparation for a baraat.

Then the wedding requests started

People kept asking me the same question: “Do you do weddings?” So I said yes. Then I said yes again. Somewhere along the way I realized I didn’t just enjoy shooting weddings. I loved it. Nobody at a wedding is posing for the evening news. They’re laughing, crying and dancing like nobody’s filming. (I’m filming.) I’m watching for the stolen glance, the squeeze of a hand and the dad who swears he isn’t tearing up. That’s the job, and I’ve never stopped loving it.

That’s how Wedding Aperture was born. Today we’re a team of photographers, videographers and editors who specialize in high-end South Asian weddings, from intimate nikkahs to multi-day celebrations with 800 of your closest relatives.

Film is my first love (and my most expensive one)

I still make films on the side, because I can’t help myself. Let’s be honest: film is where my money goes, not where I make my money. But every passion project sharpens my storytelling, and it’s a big reason our wedding films feel like films, not just footage.

Have camera, will travel

I’m on a plane at least once a month, and I’ve photographed and filmed in Pakistan, Vietnam, Canada, Ukraine, Mexico and all across the United States. I’m always up for somewhere new, so if your wedding requires a passport, I’m already packing.

Hello from Lahore

Part of my company is based in Lahore, Pakistan, where our studio focuses on fashion and commercial work. Brands, designers and agencies: come see that side of us at www.filmaperture.com.

Why couples hire us

More than 15 years behind the camera. A filmmaker’s eye for story. Real fluency in South Asian traditions, so we know exactly when the baraat is arriving and when the rukhsati is about to make everyone cry. Work featured in Maharani Weddings and South Asian Bridal Magazine. Based in Southern California, available worldwide.

If that sounds like your kind of team, let’s talk. I’d love to hear your story.

Let’s Talk About Your Wedding

Tell me about your plans, your people and your vision. I’ll bring the camera, the calm and the dance moves. (Only one of those is optional.)
